Sorry crew, due to mid-summer illness, there won’t be a new Operation Manatee tonight.
In it’s place, go listen to some Tragically Hip. Even if you were part of the 1/3 of the nation’s populace that watched the CBC event on August 20, just keep listening to Gord and the crew and enjoy the soul of Canadian music.
All you late-night lovers, all you dreamers of dreams, you searching souls: tonight is your night! Pour yourself that evening elixir, light that last toke, turn the volume up a bit, and fucking enjoy one solid hour of your life.

I’m still riding the post-Folk Fest high. Around 30 hours of live music, meeting up with old friends, acquainting new ones, and so many snapshots. I wish every weekend were Folk Fest! The Monday afterward kind of feels like this cross between good memories and the horrible realization that it’ll be a whole year until the next one. Plus school is starting again soon, if you’re into that kind of thing (or if your wife is a school teacher), it very immediately starts to feel like summer is over.

It’s pretty great. Don’t just go and expect the will of the universe to provide though (actually, you could probably get away with that, at this event)! Take these as handy tips to aid you in your delightful time.
Those who remember previous years’ Survival Guides (or those who don’t: 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012), know that traditionally, I’ve focused on the settlers. This one is for the nomads, so there are two categories below…

No! We’re not insane in the membrane! After some epic battles – some to the death (2015, 2014…), we’ve decided that joining forces is the only way Operation Manatee can be 2 legit 2 quit!
Tune in tonight from 11:00 to midnight for a solid hour of hip hop, I said a hip hip hop and you don’t stop.
