Cory and Chris throw down @CJTR – Epic Rap Battle 2013. Who do you think won this battle for street cred and papers?
Consumed by the flame that started with last week’s spark over playing a Kanye West track on a typically rock-based program, Cory and Chris’ gloves are coming off! In days past, we would have simply gone for a good, old-fashioned bar brawl or back-alley knife fight, but we decided to settle things like gentlemen this time: pistols, dawn. But before that, we’re throwing down at CJTR.
We each have an assortment of our favourite rap/hip-hop tracks for your consideration. East coast, west coast, dirty south and great white north, all represent.
Stay up late with us from 11:00 to midnight and be sure to let us know who’s winning the battle! Follow along @OpManatee.
And don’t forget to come check out the pistol fight, tomorrow at dawn.
Team #OpMan goes crazy and plays a bunch of neat stuff. Also, Cory enters a moment of blind rage as Chris plays Kanye West. It’s kind of fun!
This Friday is the longest day (most daylight) of the year. Kind of makes me sad, actually. I won’t use this time to complain about the weather, though. Rather, let’s take advantage of the time of year and all spend more time outside, with a portable radio, of course, and if anything isn’t going quite right for you, tell it to fuck right off and leave you alone!
Tonight is about playing good music, having a good time and not worrying about a thing. I have a feeling Cory just may bring some of the small goldmine he found at the CJTR Garage Sale, and I’m going to be bringing a shwakk of new music.
If sleep isn’t really your thing, stay up and keep it loud with us from 11:00 to midnight tonight.
With Cory away, Chris goes insane with power, playing non rock things like KNOWER and PDF Format. It’s actually pretty cool.
Join Chris tonight as he talks and types about himself in third-person, making for a generally really annoying experience.
Naw, just kidding. I’m going to be flying solo tonight as Cory is out of the studio, possibly doing/selling/making drugs.*
With Cory out of the way, be prepared for the most horrifying episode of OpMan, yet. Maybe dubstep, maybe hip hop, maybe heavy-rock-meets-free-jazz, maybe even pop/rock. Maybe. Only one way to find out. Stay up late with me and tune in from 11:00 to midnight. As always, follow @OpManatee for updates.
*Please note that neither Chris nor CJTR or Radius Communications or any of its programmers, affiliates or listeners advocate the use of illicit substances. Cory does though. He’s a fiend for that stuff.
Nine Inch Nails has been around for a while now and he just gets better. This is Chris’ really brief look at what makes NIN/Trent Reznor pretty fucking cool.
Before I dig into this, I want to make clear that I virtually always refer to Nine Inch Nails as “he”, “him”, etc. Almost never do I use “they”. This is because Trent Reznor is the band creator, the main creative force and the only constant member. Nine Inch Nails as a band is really just Trent Reznor plus whomever he can get. Without Trent, there is no Nine Inch Nails. So, when I start using subjective and objective personal pronouns like “he” and “his”, don’t freak out. Also, I’ll just use “NIN” a lot of the time.
Cory and Chris take things a little more laid-back this week, laying off the ultra-heavy stuff – and the acid.
If we’d thought this out a little better, we could have had a theme prepared for you tonight, but as it turns out, that’s hard to do once, let alone back-to-back. In case you missed last week’s Mosaic special, be sure to check out the podcast.
